One workbook combines a reusable valuation template with populated reference data sourced from S&P Capital IQ. Use the reference to identify candidate peers, then build your own reviewed peer set in the template. The supplied company figures and peer-group summaries are retained.
Precedent M&A is excluded.
What is in the workbook
Dashboard: selected peer-group counts, quartiles, median and an implied valuation range based on your reviewed inputs.
Controls: target company, valuation date, sector, peer group, selected metric, target financials and analyst-selected multiple range.
Peer data: editable company inputs, inclusion and exclusion rationale, EBITDA adjustments, five calculated EV multiples, eligibility and outlier flags. Capacity: 300 company rows.
Guide: instructions, metric definitions, basis review, refresh guidance and Capital IQ attribution.
Trading_Comps: the populated reference of 254 companies across 12 industries, with financials, trading multiples, business descriptions and comparability notes.
Peer_Group_Summary: supplied reference statistics for 36 peer groups, including counts, minimum, quartiles, median and maximum multiples.
Exclusions_Review: excluded or borderline names and the supplied review notes.
Use the reference with the reusable template
Start with Trading_Comps and Peer_Group_Summary to identify relevant peers. Enter your target settings on Controls, then map selected company values into the amber Peer data columns by header. The reference and template use different column orders, so do not paste entire reference rows into the template.
Complete the review fields, dates, currency, adjustments and inclusion rationale. The Dashboard calculates from your reviewed Peer data entries; it does not automatically include the reference companies. Quartiles require at least three eligible peers. The core outlier screen requires five and flags observations for review without automatically removing them.

Read the snapshot on its stated basis
The workbook labels prices as of September 8, 2026 close, Quick Comps data as of September 9, and extraction on September 10. The three populated reference tabs are a dated snapshot with stored values and summary statistics. Editing reference data does not recalculate those stored summaries. The reusable template’s formulas calculate from your entries in Peer data and Controls. Neither section automatically refreshes market data.
LTM and NTM coverage varies by company. Blank and NM entries remain as supplied. Some company IDs, fiscal-year ends and consensus estimates are missing. The source review notes may include earlier collection notes that were not subsequently reconciled.
Most rows are denominated in USD, with some profile-sourced GBP and CAD rows identified in the currency column. Confirm matching currencies, accounting definitions and financial periods before using a multiple. Currency-neutral ratios do not, by themselves, establish business comparability.
Preserve the distinction between reported and calculated multiples. The supplied workbook does not include the EPS inputs needed to independently reproduce its P/E figures. The Guide retains a concise Capital IQ attribution and the reference dates. P/E remains a reference metric; the reusable template calculates five EV multiples.
Use the peer evidence in the deal decision
Start with business model, revenue mix, size, growth, margins, customer exposure and geography. Use the peer-group ranges as evidence for a valuation judgment, and explain why the target should sit above, below or within the observed range.
Use the Acquisition Mandate & Target Screen to confirm why the target belongs in the search. Keep buyer-created benefits separate using the Synergy Underwriting & Value Bridge.
Carry the selected market reference into the Capital Allocation & Deal Affordability Tool and the LOI Economics & Risk Allocator. A public trading range does not establish the buyer's affordable price or private walk-away ceiling.
